Innter tube

The inner tube inflates the tire and gives it the capacity to carry the machine. It is protected by the tire against shar objects. The advantage of a tire with innter tube over a tire without an inner tube is the possibility to repair the tire with a new innter tube when it has a leak.

Valve

Inner tubes have several kinds of valves, so ensure you pick a tube with the right kind of valve. The different kinds of valves are shown with TR numbers. You can choose between an inner tube with a straight valve and a bend valve. The inner tube that fits is dependent on the size of your rim and the valve hole.

Flank height

When buying an innter tube, you have to ensure you have one with the right flank height. This shows if the tube will fit in the space between the rim and the profile of the tire. The flank height is dependent on the height and width of the tire. When compared with a car tire, tires for garden and turf machinery have a height flank. An absolute must for this kind of machinery because it breaks the shocks when going over rough terrain. On top of that, a heigh flank height has a bigger flex zone. This can spreads the weight over a bigger surface area. Because the width and height are in proportion, a bigger flank height leads to a wider tire, which is good for traction because of the wide surface area.

Replacing the inner tube

To replace the inner tube, you first have to remove the tire from the rim. Check the tire for sharp objects. After this, the inner tube can be placed around the rim and in the tire. Remember to put the valve through the valve hole and ensure it can’t move anywhere. The tire can now be inflated a little to make sure it is not folded in any way. Now the other half of the tire should be put on the rim. With a tire machine this is done the easiest.
