The reelmowers is very precise in its mowing on the golf course and sport field. This is due to the even mowing result of the reel and the ability to cut the grass exactly down to the millimetre.

A series of sharp blades are put on a cylinder and come into contact with the bedknife. The R101284 had 9 blades mounted on the cylinder. The grass is caught between the blades on the cillinder and the sweeping motion cuts the grass on the bedknife. A requirement for this is that the knife edges on either side are very sharp. A dull blade tears the grass, damaging it in the process.

When do you know if your reel is worn down? Luckily, in most cases your reel is just dull. It can at all times be sharpened. A reel is worn down only when the diameter of the reel becomes to small, the cutting result is bad after sharpening or when you cant set up the reel and the bedknife correctly.
